Exercise Facts

Exercise is such a positive action. It also has many benefits to add to a healthy lifestyle. Below are some simple exercise instructions.

Do what you like and enjoy
Physical activity doesn't have to be a chore to have benefits. Any activity that increases your heart rate and recruits muscles is effective and will provide health benefits.

Aim for consistency
Do something everyday, even if it is only a 5-minute walk during lunch. Make exercise a habit and incorporate it into your daily schedule.

Strive for time...not distance
What ever the activity you choose, build up gradually and work toward increasing the miles or minutes for the greatest health benefits.

Consider an exercise partner
You are most likely to continue exercising if you are doing it with another person, you keep each other accountable. Choose someone with around the same ability and interests as you to gain the most enjoyment. Make exercise your social time.

According to the U.S. Health and Human Service: Physical inactivity contributes to 300,000 preventable deaths each year in the Unites States.

Daily physical activity can (among other things):
• Substantially reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers.
• Lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
• Help slow the development or progression of osteoporosis.
• Reduce the livelihood of obesity and symptoms such as anxiety and depression.
• Ease the symptoms of arthritis.
